Max Brenner

With easter just a few days away, it’s time to start loading up with chocolate! And theres no better place to start than at Max Brenner Chocolate Bar, arguably one of the best chocolate stores in Brisbane, if not Australia.

I love going to Max Brenner’s because from the moment you step inside, you are instantly engulfed by the smell of warm chocolate. If your thinking of a place to have dessert with some friends after dinner, I reckon there’s no better place to go.

Today we went and had a Tutti-frutti waffle, a Chocolate Soufflé, Italian hot chocolate and Chocolate Suckao.

The best way of describing the Tutti-frutti waffles is an intense mix of textures and temperatures. The waffles itself is served warm and slightly crunchy along with ice-cream and chilled fruit. When eaten together, a combination of hard and soft textures, hot and cold temperatures plays havoc in your mouth. Add in the rich Max Brenner chocolate sauce to this mix and you’ve got an absolutely wonderful dessert.

Unfortunately, the chocolate soufflé was a bit of a letdown. The piece I received was not runny inside and it was a bit too heavy for me. I prefer soft and fluffy cakes but this was similar to a really thick and heavy chocolate mud cake.

Italian hot chocolate

The drinks however, were absolutely perfect as well. The Italian hot chocolate was rich, smooth and creamy. The Chocolate Suckao was very good as well – it’s just like an espresso but chocolate instead of coffee. The flavour was very intense and I loved the novelty of mixing the drink myself.

I’m sure many people in Brisbane would agree with me when I say that Max Brenner is an outstanding place for dessert. Just a word of warning though – be prepared to wait for a while on busy nights, they do get extremely busy!
